Planning Center Alternative · Kenya

Planning Center doesn't work
for Kenyan churches.

No M-Pesa. No cess tracking. No PCEA, AIC, or ACK structures. No Kenya-based support. ChurchFlow was built from the ground up for how African churches actually operate.

TL;DR

Planning Center excels for US megachurches with complex service planning needs — but it has no M-Pesa integration, no obligation tracking, no denomination hierarchy for African churches, and is priced in USD with no Kenya-based implementation support. ChurchFlow is built specifically for African churches — M-Pesa-native, denomination-aware, priced in KES, and supported from Nairobi. Choose Planning Center if you're a global church with a US-centric volunteer management workflow. Choose ChurchFlow if your church is in Kenya and needs systems that match how you actually operate.

Why Kenyan churches look for a Planning Center alternative

Planning Center is a good product — for the audience it was built for. That audience is not Kenyan churches.

What Planning Center lacks for Kenya

No M-Pesa integration. Every Kenyan church uses M-Pesa Paybill. Planning Center has no way to receive, reconcile, or receipt M-Pesa payments. Your treasurer is still reconciling manually.

No cess or obligation tracking. Kenyan denomination structures (PCEA, AIC, ACK, Full Gospel) require monthly cess, welfare fund, and building levy tracking per member. Planning Center has no concept of this.

USD pricing. At current exchange rates, Planning Center can cost KES 20,000–80,000+/month depending on modules — for a product not built for your context.

No Kenya support. All support is US-timezone. Implementation is self-serve. No one comes to configure your Paybill, migrate your data, or train your secretary.

No denomination hierarchy. PCEA parish → presbytery → region → HQ rollups. AIC branch structures. None of this maps to Planning Center's service-planning model.

What ChurchFlow gives you instead

M-Pesa-native giving. STK push, auto-reconciliation against member records, instant SMS receipts with scripture. One Paybill, every payment accounted for.

Cess, welfare, building fund — auto-tracked. Define your denomination's obligation structure once. ChurchFlow accrues monthly, tracks balances, and flags defaulters automatically.

KES pricing, no surprises. From KES 8,000/month, all-inclusive. No per-user fees. No module add-ons. M-Pesa and SMS are included.

Kenya-based implementation. We configure your system, migrate your data, train your team, and go live with you. In person if needed.

Denomination structures built in. PCEA, AIC, ACK, Full Gospel — your hierarchy, your classification tree, your Holy Communion records. All supported.

Frequently asked questions

Can I switch from Planning Center to ChurchFlow?
Yes. We handle the migration — we'll import your member records, giving history, and group structures. You don't need to start from scratch. Book a demo and we'll show you exactly what transfers and how.
Does ChurchFlow work for churches outside Kenya?
ChurchFlow is built for East African churches where M-Pesa is the primary payment method. We currently serve churches in Kenya. Expansion into Tanzania and Uganda is planned.
How long does it take to go live?
Most churches go live within 1–2 weeks of the setup fee being paid. We configure the system, migrate your data, and train your team. You don't have to figure anything out alone.
Is the first month really free?
Yes. You pay the one-time setup fee (KES 40,000–70,000 depending on your plan). Month 1 of your subscription is on us. Most churches never look back after the first month.
What happens to my data if I ever want to leave?
Your data is always yours. You can export everything — member records, giving history, attendance, financials — at any time. No lock-in.
